Peoria Heights hosts town hall meetings, looks for community input

PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. — Peoria Heights leaders are hoping to hear from neighbors.

Mayor Mike Phelan is asking people to come to a town hall meeting this Thursday evening.

He says he’s looking forward to hearing community input on anything.

The meeting will give leaders a chance to answer questions, address issues, and share things going on about town.

“There is a lot going on in the Heights, and we try an do a good job of informing people. If people have questions about those developments, we’ll do our best to answer them,” said Mayor Phelan.

Anyone in the community is invited to attend.

The meeting will be the first of three town halls, and many village officials will be there.

“These are less formal, less structured, and we’re just going to go into the neighborhoods. We have three meetings scheduled. We’re gonna listen to people, we’ll just make a short presentation five or ten minutes, and then take maybe 45 minutes of questions,” said Phelan.

The goal is to be transparent and give people a say in what’s going on.

Thursday’s meeting overlaps with Taste of the Heights, but Mayor Phelan says people should be able to attend both.

Thursday’s town hall starts at 7 p.m.

The next meetings will be October 10 at 7 p.m. and November 14 at 5 p.m.
