In the 1980’s Peoria received grants to build the Riverfront Park. Now in 2017, it’s once again seeking approval for development.
The proposed River Trail Apartments would be built on 5.6 acres of private property adjacent to Riverfront Park.
Asst. City Manager Christopher Setti said, “We believe that our National Park Services, will approve our application.” He added, ” If that happens, then its back on the developer to finalize the financing”.
The state approved the application to convert the property back in 2016.
Since then the city has adjusted its plan, based on public feedback including concerns about flooding and archeology.
If approved the construct on the apartments would begin in the next couple of months and take two years to complete.
