PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria Parks District celebrates its 125 anniversary on Saturday with a progressive dinner and concert in the park.
The unique night started at the Luthy Botanical Garden with dinner followed with dessert at the Playhouse Museum.
The final event was a concert with The Record Company at Glen Oak Park.
The executive director for the Peoria Parks District says the parks have a history of serving their community in many ways.
“Certainly we have been a part of the health and the vitality and the uniqueness of our community and we look forward to doing that for another 125 years,” said Emily Cahill.
The Peoria Parks District is the oldest and largest in the state of Illinois.
The recent sale of Raccoon Lakes provided the start up funds for their new endowment.
