PEORIA, Ill. – Neighbors have the chance to team up with Peoria Police Department to help solve crime in the area.
The Department Wednesday announced its electronic registry system. It allows citizens and businesses to register their security cameras with the police.
This system will help after a crime. For example, after an incident, police will be able to locate cameras near the scene and could find suspects and other evidence.
Peoria Police Chief Loren Marion encourages the community to participate.
“I’m urging citizens to cooperate and register their cameras because like we’ve seen in a few previous cases, when we have community support and involvement we’re able to solve cases quickly.” said Chief Marion
Chief Marion stressed that this will not take the place of door to door canvassing efforts, but will only help make the job easier.
