PEORIA, Ill. -- Wednesday afternoon, the Peoria Police Department took time out of its day to recognize the men and women who have given their lives in the line of duty.
They held a special service outside Peoria City Hall. Family members of those who have passed layed a rose by ther loved one's name on the memorial, as they called out their name.
"Since I've been on, there's been two officers killed in line of duty and one was the officer where the young man came up and that brings back a lot of emotions of during that time," said Chief Marion.
Officers said it never gets easier to hear a comrade in blue has passed.
