Peoria Police say they’ve spent a lot of time planning for a busy weekend in the river city to ensure everything goes off without a hitch.
In addition to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Mardi Gras in May will shut down Water Street from Liberty to Harrison. Bradley Graduation is also on Saturday at the Peoria Civic Center.
Police are anticipating increased traffic and visitors to the area. For that reason, you can also expect to see an increased police presence around town.
“This brings a ton of people to the Peoria areas so we have to be prepared to keep everyone safe, of course, and have a good time.” Officer Amy Dotson says.
Police recommend building in extra time if you plan to travel in the downtown area during any of these events, as delays are expected.
