Peoria police remind parents about teen curfew

Local News

During these summer months Peoria Police are reminding people about curfew.

For those 12 and under, you must be off the streets from 9 pm to 6 am.

For those 13-to-16, Sunday through Thursday curfew is 11 pm until  6 am. and from Friday to Saturday, they can stay out until midnight.

Peoria Police say there are consequences for breaking curfew.

“As parents, we love summertime because the schedules relax a little bit and everything’s not so much by the numbers,” says PIO Amy Dotson, Peoria Police. “Get the homework done and bedtime and things like that. It’s a little more relaxed, but ya know, just know where your kids are. The curfew is a great guideline and it’s a great fallback for parents too.”

Officers do exercise leniency in certain situations like coming home from work, but for those caught out passed curfew, you could get hit with a $50 ticket.
