Peoria Promise impacts lives in the area

PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Promise is getting ready for “The Event,” in hopes of raising a half a million dollars.

The non-profit is donor-funded and helps create a more skilled workforce in the area.

The 11th annual gala is the group’s only fundraiser event, and helps them fund their programs.

Executive director MJ Schettler says they have a huge impact in the area.

“It changes lives, Peoria Promise. Our data will show you now, that statistically, 89% of our students who enroll in the program are successful, receiving their degree or certificate,” said Schettler.

It gives high school graduates a chance to complete college or vocational programs.

“Our goal is a half a million dollars this year, and we really hope that we’ll be able to meet that goal, so that we don’t have to turn any students away who apply for our program,” said Schettler.

The Event” is September 27 at 6 p.m. at the Peoria Civic Center. It will feature tribute bands Abbey Road and Satisfaction.
