Peoria Public Schools aims to keep kids learning, even while they are home for snow days

Local News

So far students have had three snow days, and each day that school is cancelled will add an extra day on to the end of the school year.

Originally the last day of school was scheduled to be May 22nd, but as of now it is projected to be May 28th.  Director of Communications and Community Engagement for Peoria Public Schools, Thomas Bruch, spoke with us about the difficulty in finding an alternative to closing school completely with almost 13,000 students.

“We have such a big district that it’s a significant task to get our almost 13,000 kids if they’re all at home, it takes a while to get up to speed on that and be able to do online learning in case of snow cancellation,” said Bruch.

The school district will continue working towards creating an online learning alternative, but as of now their main priority is to ensure the safety of students.
