PEORIA, Ill — After nearly five years of work, the Peoria Ronald McDonald House is nearing completion.
The house which serves families with children in the hospital is expected to serve hundreds each year. There are 22 suites that can hold five people each. The co-chair for the foundation says she’s excited to fill the home with families in need. She gave us a few details of what to expect when they open in December.
“There is a kitchen where you can cook your own food, there is a pantry that is gonna be stocked full with non-perishable foods, that you could basically live off of, so you don’t even have to think about those. There’s a toy store inside that looks like the tree of life at Disney World,” said Julie Locke of the Peoria Ronald McDonald House.
The first pictures of what the first responder’s room will look like were unveiled on Friday.
