A Consul-General of Japan made a stop in the river city. Naoki Ito toured local Japanese owned businesses, including the PMP Fermentation Products factory and the Komatsu America plant. It’s all to help further the relationship between Peoria and Japan. Ito said Japanese owned businesses in the area provide around 1,000 jobs to people in the Peoria area.

“We will seek further understanding on the Japanese investment in the state of Illinois, as well as to seek further opportunities of doing business together between the state of Illinos and Japan” said Ito, Consul-General of Japan in Chicago.

Ito also hopes to form sister city relations between peoria and a city in japan in the future.
