PEORIA, Ill. — A man was extricated from a storm drain in the 800 block of W. Trailcreek Drive Thursday afternoon.

The Peoria Fire Department and paramedics were called to the address just after 2p.m. for the man entrapped in the drain, fire officials said. He was unable to extricate himself. It is unknown how he ended up in the storm drain.

Crews on scene had to use pry bars and rope to remove storm drain cover. After it was removed, the man was extricated and immediate medical care was rendered.

The patient was then transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center by AMT with two fire officials. A total of 10 firefighters were at the scene, which was cleared just after 2:30 p.m.

The PFD said there is no update on his condition at this time.
