PEORIA, Ill - Day 20 of the government shutdown and thousands of government employees might not get paid Friday, among them are TSA workers at Peoria International Airport.
The Hangar Too at Peoria International Airport is offering free meals to TSA workers until the shutdown is over. Owners of the restaurant say they wanted to do anything in their power to help employees during the stressful situation they’re dealing with.
“I’ve heard it’s become problematic at other airports, TSA workers calling in sick because they’re not going to go to work if they can’t be paid.” said General Manager Linda King. “We have a very dedicated TSA staff at the Peoria Airport and we feel that we should take care of them for their dedication.”
King tells WMBD many of the TSA employees have personally thank the restaurant for the selfless act. It’s still unclear when the government shutdown will come to an end.
