It’s been a hot start for the Peoria International Airport this summer! More than sixty four thousand people traveled through the airport in the month of June. That tops its previous record from March of this year by3.4%.
The airport’s director says those numbers can be attributed to both leisure travel and the airport’s focus on increasing business travel.
“We’re having record levels of passenger usage and that’s great because we can take that back to the airlines and tell them people are responding to what their offering” said Director of Airports Gene Olson. He adds,“With the success, we can take that and tell the airlines that people from Central Illinois will probably respond to whatever their next offer is. “
The overall passenger count is also currently tracking 6% higher than the airports best year ever.
