Peoria International Airport is off to a strong start this year.
In just the first month of 2017, a little over 48,000 passengers traveled through.
Airport Director, Gene Olson spoke about the newly released numbers Friday on WMBD This Morning.
He says it’s the busiest January the airport’s ever had and the pleasant weather played a role.
We didn’t have as many cancelations as we normally would have and also we have the Charlotte flight which added another 4,100 passengers to our total.
Olson says American Airlines saw the number of passengers from PIA increase by a little more than 5,000 from January 2016 to January 2017. He said it’s been a great thing, adding a third hub of Charlotte, NC for American Airlines from PIA.
The people have been supporting it so it’s doing really well.
