Popular local restaurant relocating to Park District property

PEORIA - Cyd's Gourmet Kitchen Cafe and Catering is teaming up with the Peoria Park District to move to a new location.

Owner, Cyd Hinrikson said, "It's nice to see growth, I love seeing things happen in Peoria for the better of the community and for all of our clients."

Cyd's has been part of the Peoria community for 30 years. The restaurant, currently located in Junction City, plans to move across the street to the Donovan Park Clubhouse in early 2018. The restaurant will feature patio seating, a market area, and dedicated event space.

The restaurant's owners plan to work with the Park District on park programming. Collaborations in the works include cooking classes, picnics, stargazing events, and community gardening.

While it currently serves breakfast and lunch, the new location will be a full-service restaurant and bar with extended evening hours.

The restaurant has major plans to take advantage of the area to include things such as community programming.

"We have many plans from community gardening, to star watching at the observatory thats located at the park, followed by wine and teas at Cyd's afterward," said Co-owner, Emily Cotton.

The Park District says their happy to collaborate with Cyd's and looking forward to this transition.

The Peoria Park District Board of Trustees and Peoria City Council will have to approve the change before renovations begin. There will be a neighborhood meeting where you can learn more about the project on November 29 at the Donovan Park Clubhouse.
