The Peoria Public Schools superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat will be getting a raise. Monday night school board voted to approve a pay increase with Kherat’s new contract.

On the district’s website, as of the 2017-2018 school year Kherat made nearly $250 thousand dollars. Monday night, members voted to pay Kherat $1.3 million over the next five years, bringing her pay to $260 thousand dollars each year.

“This is one of the most lucrative superintendent contracts in downstate Illinois,” said Board member Dan Walther. “Basically if you ask someone who is outside of district 150 and you ask what has she done to garner this sort of lucrative contract, by her own explanation the last three years have not been remarkable.”

Kherat tells WMBD shes earned the pay raise.

“Everything you’ve heard about, I’m bringing back ten times more than whats given to me,” Kherat said.
