It’s been brought up several times, and Thursday the discussion continues: Should Peoria Public Schools delay its start times?
At 4:30 p.m. Thursday at PPS’s district headquarters, officials and parents are expected to explore the idea.
Some PPS school start before 8 a.m., and many believe the start time should be after 8 a.m. Supporters believe a delayed start time is actually beneficial for students.
They think this would benefit students because it would allow students get more sleep. Parents said it’s tough for teens to fall asleep before 11 p.m., and it makes it difficult to get the needed 8 to 10 hours of sleep.
Parents will have the opportunity to offer suggestions at the meeting.
