Protect pets from hot pavement this summer

Local News

PEORIA, Ill. — With temperatures on the rise pet owners need to take the proper steps to keep their furry friends safe and cool.

TAPS No Kill Animal Shelter said this is a hard time of year for animals.
Hot pavement could hurt your pets paws.

Experts say if you do take your pets outside for a walk try to keep them on the grass or consider walking them in the early morning or evening hours.

People really need to be careful of hot pavement for their animals paws and if you can’t walk barefoot on it neither can your animals.

Holly Crotty, TAPS No Kill Animal Shelter Executive Director

Crotty said animals may just prefer to limit their time outside over covering their paws.
