Realtor: Downtown Marriott hotels expected to remain open

PEORIA - The Peoria Marriott Pere Marquette and Courtyard by Marriott in Downtown Peoria are expected to stay open.

ReMax Realtor Bob Howard, who is the property's court appointed receiver, released this statement Thursday:

“It is my expectation that the Marriott Pere Marquette Hotel and the Courtyard will remain open and operating as normal for the foreseeable future, regardless of the foreclosure proceedings.  We are working to stabilize the hotels and to attract new guests.  Marriott recently agreed to accept reservations through the end of July and we expect that system to reopen soon. We expect to have a long-term solution in place before then.  While we understand that the legal predicament of the hotels may cause some concerns for prospective guests, we are confident in our ability to accommodate guests and events at the Marriott Pere Marquette and the Courtyard.”

Marriott Hotels has agreed to accept reservations through the end of July 2018; Howard expects to have a long-term solution in place by then.

The hotel is currently undergoing foreclosure proceedings, after developer Gary Matthews failed to pay back millions in loans.
