A second litter of Red Wolves were born on April 25th at Miller Park Zoo.
These three pups create a very active exhibit for our guests to see how a family of nine Red Wolves live together.
The four male pups from last year are still at the Zoo.
The Red Wolf is critically endangered and was once extinct in the wild. Their numbers increased thanks to zoos and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
Red Wolves were reintroduced; including two from your Miller Park Zoo, in 2011 into North Carolina. Numbers are declining again as North Carolina has passed laws that were detrimental to the wild Red Wolf population, like allowing night hunting of Coyotes, which look similar to a Red Wolf especially at night.
