EDELSTEIN, Ill – The Marshall County Sheriff’s office tells WMBD remains found on a property on the Marshall/Peoria County line are likely those of Tiffini Murphy. The remains were found by authorities on a property in Edelstein on Tuesday.

Marshall County Sheriff Wayne Strawn II says an arrest has been made in the case. He adds the suspect is not connected to the property on which the remains were found. While the suspect’s name is not being released, we do know he will be arraigned at the Marshall County Courthouse at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Murphy was last seen on September 1, 2018 after reportedly being dropped off at the now-closed Casey’s in Lacon; since then her family has been searching for answers.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood tells WMBD the remains were found on the Peoria County side of the line so they were taken to the Peoria County Coroner’s office.

Harwood says the remains along with other evidence is being sent to a lab in Texas for DNA extraction. His office has samples from her family members so when the results come back, a conclusive DNA match can be made.

Harwood adds there is no evidence to determine a cause of death. Though there is enough evidence proving the remains are not those of Alexis Scott or Marc Bohanan.
