A four legged friend will soon be joining the force at the East Peoria Police Department. Thanks to a generous donation from the Spinder family the department will now be able to purchase a K-9 police dog. They’re making the donation in memory of their husband and father Herb Spinder who was a great supported of the localpolice.Officers say they are humbled and honored by this gift.
“Not only is it going to be a great asset to put on the streets,it gives us a lot more abilities,” said Dick Ganschow, East Peoria Police Chief. He adds, “It’s extra special to us and to particularly me to know that it came from one of our citizens.”
The department hopes to have the K-9 trained by October.
