DELAVAN, Ill. — Revolution Enterprises, a cannabis cultivation center in Delavan, is expanding its growing space.
“On behalf of the city of Delavan, we are very pleased and proud to have the home of Revolution be right here,” said Mayor Liz Skinner.
The company has made a big economic impact, according to city leaders.
“They created a large number of jobs here in the community. They built a state of the art facility, provided state of the art product for people with chronic illnesses and in addition they provided really important financial support to our school district as well as to the city of Delavan,” said Skinner.
The local government has supported the company from the beginning. CEO Mark de Souza said it’s been humbling to see that.
“Without the city of Delavan being behind us, with the strength that it is, we couldn’t be who we are today,” said de Souza.
The company celebrated it the expansion on Thursday during a groundbreaking ceremony.
“We’ve very excited to bring additional housing to the area, bring additional employment, additional tax revenue and the impacts of those things we know are very well felt for a community like Delavan,” said de Souza.
Skinner said she is hopeful this relationship will continue for many years to come.
“It’s a challenging time for small communities obviously but this is really injecting some new enthusiasm to our community,” said Skinner.
Skinner is also hopeful there will be even more jobs with this initiative.
