MORTON, Ill. — Students head back to school across central Illinois within the next few weeks, and those who attend Jefferson Elementary School in Morton have a sweet new playground to enjoy.

The playground is located at the corner of Jefferson and 3rd Avenue, and those on the board of education said they are thankful for the generous contributions made by community members. In all, it was a roughly $65,000 project.

Principal Kate Wyman said the playground is also open to the public.

“Obviously we are reaping the benefits of it during the school day, but the reality is, we’re right in the heart of Morton and so many, many, many, community members as well as visitors to the town of Morton will be able to enjoy this play structure for years to come,” said Principal Wyman.
