Peoria Riverfront shooting, one critical condition

PEORIA, Ill.— A man is in critical condition after an early morning shooting by the Peoria riverfront Saturday.

At approximately midnight the Peoria Police Department responded to the 400 block of Water Street and issued multiple open alcohol and parking citations to a crowd of more than 200 people.

At approximately 4 a.m. a fight broke out among that crowd and shots were fired by an unknown suspect.

Peoria Police Department Information Officer Amy Dotson said police were unable to locate the suspect (s) due to the large crowd.

After additional shots were fired by an unkown suspect, officers located a victim who had been shot multiple times.

Immediate care was given and the victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police are still investigating the incident.
