The Democratic nominee for Congress in the 18th district says he is well aware of the tall task ahead of him: ousting an incumbent Republican in a deeply red district.

But Junius Rodriguez, a professor at Eureka College, says he’s going to try to do so through old-fashioned campaigning – knocking on doors, holding town hall events and listening to voters.

He says he doesn’t have the money, nor infrastructure, at this juncture to put his message on television and doesn’t know if he will during a general election that will no doubt be dominated by the race for governor.
