PEORIA, Il- Members of the Rotary Club of Peoria-North, are dedicating a new public shelter by the Rock Island Trail in Donovan Park. This new structure provides a safe place for community members to rest while they're passing through. It has picnic tables and a water station for people and their pets.
"Because of the synergy between Donovan Park with the trail, the bridge over Knoxville, this is a heavily used area. It is an area where we want to see some growth, and we really want users to have amenities available to them," said Emily Cahill, Parks & Rec Executive Director at Peoria Park District.
This new shelter is in partnership with the Peoria Park District and Illinois American Water. The rotary club donated $50,000 for this project to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
