Run Walk or Trot to Stop Blood Clots 5K raises awareness about blood clot risks

Local News

Many woke up early Saturday to get their hearts pumping for a blood clot awareness event. This is the 6th annual Run Walk Or Trot to Stop Blood Clots 5K. The event hopes to inform people about the risks that can lead blood clots.

The Deveraux Hubbard II Foundation was started after 19 year old Deveraux died from a pulmonary embolism caused by a blood clot. His parents started the foundation. They said many people have been able to get blood clots detected earlier on because of this cause.

“I pray that no one has to suffer the way we are currently suffering every day. It’s hard. But if you do have to go through what we are going through for what ever reason, my encouragement would be to find something that will motivate you to get up every day,” said Kristie Hubbard, founder of Deveraux Hubbard II Foundation.

Over 250 people were registered to support the cause and the family.
