Sandbag removal begins on Water Street

Peoria, Ill. – Peoria Public Works crews have begun the removal of sandbags in the 300 block of SW Water Street after the flooding. 

The removal will continue through Thursday. Water Street will remain closed to traffic from Liberty to Harrison. The public will be notified when the cleanup is complete, and the road has been reopened. 

The public continues to have access to Water Street businesses and restaurants. Pedestrian traffic remains allowed in this block and cars can park in the Liberty lot by taking Harrison Street. 

There is additional public parking in the museum block.
