The Back 2 School Alliance is looking to help low-income family students go to school this fall on the right foot. This weekend they will be placing school supply collections at the Office Depot and the Walmart in Normal.

Twin City residents are asked to help families with their back to school needs by purchasing and donating supplies. The alliance is requesting, among other things, that you donate backpacks, with laptop pockets. According to Jan Meadows, chair of the Back 2 School Alliance, kids in McLean County have one-to-one technology access but are prohibited from taking the laptops home if they cannot carry them safely.

The organization serves nearly 3,000 students in McLean County. District 87 Superintendent Barry Reilly says starting on the same level as your peers gives students confidence.

The collections will be set up on July 21st at the Office Depot and Normal Walmart and on July 22nd at the Normal Walmart only. The donated supplies will be distributed to the students during the Back 2 School Alliance party on August 9th at Grossinger Motors Arena.
