BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Sears at Eastland Mall in Bloomington is slated to close later this year.
A Sears Holdings spokesman confirmed the Bloomington location is one of 46 unprofitable stores that will close the doors for a final time in November. He says it is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the company's capital position and focus on its best stores.
The number of employees impacted locally was not available. A news release says eligible associates will receive severance and be able to apply to positions at other K-Mart and Sears locations.
The Peoria store is not on the list ofr November closure and will remain open. The automotive center at the Bloomington store will close this month. Liquidation sales are expected to begin as early as August 30.
