Setting ‘standard of positivity,’ local Peoria leader urges lawmakers to be bipartisan

Local News

A Peoria leader is pushing the message of  bipartisanship to local lawmakers.

Jeff Griffin is the president and CEO of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce and CEO Council.

He wrote a letter to Democrat Congresswoman Cheri Bustos and Republican Congressman Darin LaHood and hopes they can set a standard of positivity in Washington.

In the note, Griffin shares Peoria is in a “unique position to let the rest of the country know what bipartisanship looks like because both lawmakers are credible in their parties and in a position to make a difference.”

“We have very respected representation at the national level and the deal in I don’t know President Trump,” said Griffin. “I don’t know Nancy Pelosi. I know Darin LaHood and I know Cheri Bustos and I think we have an opportunity to showcase the bipartisanship of Peoria Illinois and be an example to the rest of the country.”

Both bustos and lahood have responded to the letter saying they are in support of his message and intend to keep washington on the right path.
