More solar farms could be coming to McLean County. On Tuesday three different solar companies will go before the Zoning Board of Appeals to propose five different solar farms.

Already the board has approved five solar farms which are set to be built in 2019. Staff believe the new additions will provide fresh new energy to the area.

“I think what it does now is it offers farmers an opportunity to grow something different than what they have been doing,” said Phil Dick Director of the McLean County Zoning Board of Appeals. “I think their options now with corn and soy bean are being limited somewhat and this gives them an opportunity to produce new crops.”
