PEORIA, IL. – The Springdale Cemetery in Peoria has a new scattering garden. This new way of laying your loved one to rest is unique to the area.
The Grand Prairie Gardens is a place where family members can come and scatter their loved one’s ashes. Cemetery staff said this is a service that’s in high demand.
“The reason we’re developing this is we know that number of scatterings are far outnumbering the number of full body burials these days. Those cremated remains, many of them, are taken home rather than finding a final resting place,” said Mark Matuszak, general manager at Springdale Cemetery.
Families are also able to have a special ceremony in the garden prior to saying goodbye.
