St. Patrick Society of Peoria donates funds to Nicholas J. Murphy Foundation

Local News

The St. Patrick Society of Peoria is giving back to their community in a touching way.

Through its second annual Happy Hour 5K, a kick off event for the Peoria Irish Fest, the St. Patrick Society of Peoria raised $2,000.

Thursday, they donated their proceeds to the Nicholas J. Murphy Foundation.

“We like to donate to a charity that will benefit our own city or our own area and this definitely is a worth while charity so that’s why we chose this one,” said Theresa Hoadley, president of St. Patrick Society of Peoria.

Murphy had dreams of becoming a Navy Seal, but died in November 2016 after being hit by a car.

The 2019 Happy Hour 5K will be held on Aug. 23.
