Standoff in Peru ends peacefully, local school cancels classes

After nearly 12 hours, a standoff in downtown Peru comes to a peaceful end.

According to the News Tribune, Jeffery Sorrentino started shooting at police near Fourth and Pike Street late Monday morning.

There were no reported injuries during the standoff.

Peru Catholic School will not be in session today and the 6:25 a.m. mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church is now canceled.

There is no word on what charges Sorrentino may be facing.
