Limestone Community High School students received a special visit today from Rep. Mike Unes (R-East Peoria), who is an alumnus of the school.
While he was a student, he was part of the beginnings of this tradition. Thursday, he talked to members of the student council about his experiences there.
“I still remember Mr. Wastle’s voice and his passion for this and teaching us the leadership skills and the reason that you give back to such a great cause and the importance of community service,” said Unes.
Limestone students have raised a total of $947,000 in the past 43 years and they hope to hit the 1 million mark this year. Their fundraiser will conclude with an all school pep rally on Feb. 6.
The Easter Seals Telethon will be held on WMBD on March 2.
