Stevenson Elementary School celebrates 50 years

Local News

Stevenson Elementary School is celebrating 50 years of teaching. Sunday, school staff invited past and present students for a special celebration.

Many of those who went were able to walk down memory lane, by looking at yearbooks from 1969 to up to 2018. Community members were also able to walk through the hallways to remember their time as a student.

“I think Stevenson has always been a safe place. A place of learning, a place of growing, a place of acceptance for everyone and that’s what we always want to be,” said Barbie Dennis, first grade teacher.

Stevenson Elementary is the youngest in the district and it was named after the 31st governor of Illinois.
