Students from a local school got to celebrate with leaders from Caterpillar after graduating from the company’s program on Friday.
It was the first ever graduation ceremony for the Caterpillar Hiring Innovation Program, featuring students from Manual Academy.
The celebration was at the company’s building in East Peoria.
Students got an insiders look at the skills needed to for working at a company like Caterpillar.
“So when you are on the job, hands on, learning it with the people who have been doing it for years you really get the full exposure of both technical ability and the soft side to learn a lot of the leadership things that are needed to be successful in a career in manufacturing,” says East Peoria Facility Manager Adrian Garcia.
“I love the program,” says Manual High Senior Cole Measheaw. “I’ve learned so much in the program and my confidence has gone up so much that now I’m better speaking to people and I can walk into a place with more confidence.”
