School leaders in Normal are looking into how much they should pay teachers. At the Aug. 22 school board meeting, Unit 5 officials were called out for not adequately paying substitute teachers.

Wednesday, the board had another meeting and again were confronted on what they plan to do to address these concerns. Members of the board responded by saying they have made plans to form an advisory group to help address these issues.

Members of the newly created committee will be brought up for approval at the board’s next meeting on Sept. 26.

Vice President of the board Mike Trask said the pay issues are a product of the district’s financial discrepancies, something they hope to fix in the future.
