PEORIA, Ill. — The world’s largest non-profit to fight breast cancer is rebranding.
What was once known as Race for the Cure, will now be known as More Than Pink Peoria Walk. The rebranding also comes with new elements for this year’s fundraiser. It will now be geared more toward walking instead of running, also eliminating the time limit.
Along with pink, three more cancer fighting colors will be flying on Saturday. The marketing director explains the message behind this name change.
“More than Pink was really this idea about, today pink means awareness, tomorrow pink means taking action, taking action getting your mammogram, taking action signing up for events such as Race for the Cure, taking action starting your own fundraiser,” said PR Marketing Director, Katie Parker.
The event will be held Saturday at the Metro Center on University Street in Peoria. The organization’s goal is to reduce breast cancer deaths by 50 percent by 2026.
