PEORIA, Il- The Tailgates N’ Tallboys Musical Festival series is kicking off Thursday night at Peoria’s river front. This weekend’s event is featuring artists from different genres.
“This is such a unique festival. We have been able to grab on to a lot of the new and upcoming acts and really kind of work with them over the years,” said Leon Edward, VP of Marketing from Inked Entertainment.
The festival often sells out, bringing about 12,000 people to the area. 40 percent of those come from out of town, which brings more revenue to the city.
“It’s such a more intimate setting than a lot of festivals that you get in here. I think that’s the big difference between our festival and a lot of larger festivals,” said Edwards.
This year the main stage has moved from under the Murray Baker Bridge to create space for 5,000 more people.
One of the featured artists is legendary Bret Michaels from Poison, who’s playing his newest single Unbroken, which he wrote with his daughter Jorja.
“The song is simply about being stronger than our storm, about facing adversity and keeping a fighting sprit going forward and remaining unbroken,” said Michaels.
Most of all he’s excited to be back in Peoria and kick off this weekend celebration.
“I am hoping to bring with me the perfect early summer weather, one great party, all the Poison hit and all the Bret Michael hits,” said Micheals.
