TREMONT, Ill.–The Tazewell County Health Department is offering free water testing to homeowners whose water systems are based on private wells.
You can get the tests from the Health Deparment, bring it home to get a sample of water, then bring it back.
Officials will call neighbors to let them know whether the water is contaminated.
“A lot of people living in the rural areas have well water, so we want to make sure that their drinking water is safe for them. With all the flood waters and run off and drainage right now, there’s a possibility that a well can be contaminated,” said Communications Manager of the Tazewell County Health Department Sara Sparkman.
Sparkman says she hopes this helps protect homeowners from dangerous diseases. You can get your water tester from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday at the Health Department.
