The Connect Transit board now has a solution for Olive route riders

MCLEAN COUNTY, Ill. — The Connect Transit Board now has a solution to address concerns after it announced a route would be canceled.

Tuesday evening the board met at their monthly meeting to discuss ways in which they can service the people who can no longer catch the Olive route bus.

The board approved a route change, in which Pink route bus drivers, will pick up Olive route riders. Leaders say the change is a result of addressing resident concerns and trying to be more efficient by utilizing an existing route.

“Transit as a whole is a hard industry,” said Chief Operating Officer, Martin Glaze. “You have to appease everyone, on one hand it does need to be efficient but on the other it needs to be for the people that need it the most. How do you weigh both of those, because they are opposites?”

The new change will go into effect on July 1st.

The board also is considering moving the fare increases back to January 1st 2020, this after the previous move from July to October 1st.

The board is having an information session tomorrow at Uptown Station for those who wish to see the new route layout and learn how it may affect you.

They say they plan to have more information sessions in the upcoming months.
