The oldest liquor store in Normal is finally open for business again

Eight months after a fire destroyed their building, University Liquors in Normal has officially reopened.

The oldest liquor store in the town had an electrical fire that started in one of their coolers last spring.

After months of planning and preparation, Store Owner Ricky Rakholia says he’s excited to get the chance to serve his customers once again in a bigger more modern space than before.

With ISU classes back in session, student’s are saying the grand reopening couldn’t have come at a better time. 

“I’m pretty excited, the place has a lot of history,” said ISU Student Alex Kronberg. “I live just down the street, and I actually just turned 21 so im excited to check it out.”

The store is located at 706 W. Beaufort St. in Normal and it is open from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 1:45 a.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Sunday.​
