NORMAL, Ill. — The Unit 5 School Board is searching for a new superintendent.
After 6 years as Unit 5 Superintendent, Mark Daniel announced his resignation Monday afternoon.
Daniel says he still wants to be a superintendent, however he’s looking for a change of scenery, reason being, he says he wants to move closer to his family.
He did say, he is happy with what he and the board were able to do during his tenure, and he hopes to continue that work during this school year.
“It is important to know that i am not going anywhere now,” said Daniel. “We have a lot of wonderful work to do in Unit 5 and I’ll continue in this position until June 30th of 2020. “I look forward to an outstanding school year as it continues to be an honor and a privilege to serve the Unit 5 community.”
Daniel plans to move close to family, but he did not specify where that could be, just that he wants to stay in state.
The school board will higher an agency by the name of school exec connect to assist them in the search for the new superintendent.
