The Tireless Project, a Peoria initiative is giving community members a chance to get rid of their unwanted tires, for free.
The volunteer-run organization collects tires at the Jimax operation building, once a month. The first 10 are taken in for free and additional ones cost $1. About 1,300 tires get collected every time.
“There’s a big problem with illegal dumping around the city, so this kind of promotes people to get out and keep their neighborhoods and their alleyways clean. It’s an avenue so they don’t have to pay to get rid of them,” said James Kosner, Executive Director of The Tireless Project.
The next collection will be happening July 20th from 9 am to 11 am at the Jimax building on 2000 W Clark St in Peoria.
