Tremont community holds a vigil in honor of Daniel Baker

Over 100 people gathered in Tremont Monday evening to remember the life of one of their own.

Daniel Baker, a 21-year-old Marine was killed in a military plane crash off the coast of Japan in early December. Dozens of loved ones stood lighting candles and praying. The Tremont community organized the event to show their support for the marine’s family. 

“It means something when you lose one of your own, so I think the importance of this is to get the people out,” said family spokesperson Matt Miller.

Many who knew him said that his faith in god was strong and he believes he could achieve anything.
