Twin Cities police make arrests in recent armed robberies

BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL, Ill. — The Bloomington Police Department have arrested two area men in connection to the recent armed robberies around the Twin Cities.

Friday, the BPD executed two search warrants at residential locations in Normal and Bloomington. Detectives from the Normal Police Department also assisted in reference to a series of recent robbery cases.

Terrell Blackshear, age 28, of Bloomington and Larry Nelson, 31 of Normal were arrested. The two were charged with committing robberies at Casey’s General Store, Six Points Food and Liquor, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Subway.

Both are currently being held at the McLean County Jail pending review by the McLean County States Attorney’s Office. Armed robbery is considered a Class X Felony, which is punishable by 6 years to 30 years in prison.
